Teacher's day

Its Teachers day today  and we are celebrating it all over the country .Every school has organised a function  and the government too felicitates teachers today .

We too should say thankyou to our teachers who did contribute in shaping our personalities Though some of them did leave a sad impression on our minds .We have had good teachers and bad . While some of them were loved and respected some were dreaded .

The dreaded ones were of two kinds : one who were dreaded for their strictness and disciplinarian attitude but we knew that they meant good and  all their strictness was aimed at making us better persons. The other species of this kind was a  frustrated lot who had become teachers because they could not do any thing else.

Specially in the juniour classes  very few teachers had that love and kindness so important to deal with small kids .   In fact that species is more common these days  when the criteria of  becoming a teacher is a B ed . degree .  And not the love for teaching or loving kids . There is very little tolerance . Coloured Toys  and beautiful pictures on the walls are supposed to take the place of the human touch a  five year old requires when he/she is away from home .

ANY WAY THATS THE WAY IT IS  AND THAT'S  the reason why children are being subjected to cruel punishments .

But I am happy to say that, I and many more of that bygone era were lucky to have had teachers who had actually made SCHOOL our second HOME .We learnt nearly everything in school home was just a place to do homework in , spend a few hours in the company of parents and relatives { for girls a lesson in the kitchen} .

OUR  curricullum used to be such that it was not limited to the three R' s only.  We had all activities which gave an all round development to ones personality.
Our teachers had that third eye which made them see our hidden talents I remember being dragged into the sports field to shine as a hockey player or being given that hard push which sent so many of us staggering   on the stage  and later  become good artists .
OH !!! The tears we shed to escape; but nothing doing  If they wanted us to participate we had to ,AND aren't we all thankfull .!!!!

AND YES  those punishments !!!! never to be forgotten .

" I will not talk in class " to be written 100 times and lunch break forgone.
Stand outside the class so that the whole school comes to know about it !!
And the worst used to be when they made us sit with boys {this was for the girls} and girls { this was for the boys} . Specially in juniour classes when both the species avoided each other like the plague.!!!
And of course standing on the bench etc toh chalta thha .

So that was school  .
OUR HOME away from HOME.!!

And those were our teachers.
Who made it so.

Gandhi on Zee Classic on 13th and 15th August 2016

If ‘Gandhi’ was made in 2016…

With its proposition of 'WohZamaanaKareDeewana', Zee Classic is India's only Hindi movie channel that endeavors to recreate the magic of iconic classics and new age cinema by showcasing not just the films that shaped Indian cinema but also acquaint viewers with the creative talent who were a part of that timeless era. In order to mark the occasion of India’s 70th year of independence, Zee Classic premieres

One of the most iconic films of all times, Gandhi (1982) was produced and directed by Richard Attenborough and written by John Briley. Starring Ben Kingsley, RohiniHattangadi, Edward Fox, Roshan Seth, amongst others. The story is thatof an Indian lawyer who returned from racially segregated South Africa to drive the British out of his home country through successive acts of non-violent protest. The portrayal of how simplicity and the power collectivism can throw over a whole British empire bringing them to their knees.

As Zee Classic gears up to premiere ‘Gandhi', this Saturday, on 13th August at 8 PM in ‘India’s Finest Films’ and on Monday, 15th August at 9:30 AM, we wonder who would be a part of this classic if it was to be re-made in 2016!

Director

1982 : Sir Richard Attenborough had the ability and talent to accommodate a person’s entire lifespan in a couple of hours. He did a phenomenal job right from the research to bringing alive the legacy of the father of our nation on big screen.

2016: AshutoshGowarikar known for his love for historical films and bringing lost eras to life with Lagaan, Jodha Akbar and Swadesh, is undoubtedly our choice to direct this film today.

Mahatma Gandhi

1982: Ben Kingsley played the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the movie.

2016: Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is the man for the job. Known for his chameleon skills to adapt to various roles and characters combined with his attention to detail, Aamir Khan should play the role of our beloved Baapu.

Kasturba Gandhi

1982: RohiniHoattangadi, beautifully portrayed Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

2016:Kajol, one of India’s most acclaimed actresses can easily pull off the role of Baa.

General Dyer

1982: Edward Fox is etched in our minds as the dreadful and shrewd General Dyer who was hated by all for his infamous JallianwalaBagh massacre.

2016: Tom Alter with his international looks and versatile talent can be General Dyer in ‘Gandhi’.

Jawahar Lal Nehru

1982: Roshan Seth played the role of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to perfection.

2016: The Nawab of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan wins hands down with his charming royal looks.

Sardar Patel

1982:Saeed Jaffery pulled off the role of The Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel flawlessly.

2016: PareshRawal’s known for his diverse character roles makes him our choice to play the part.

Mohammad Ali Jinnah

1982:AlyquePadamsee brought to life an important historic figure, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, popularly known as the father of Pakistan in history

2016: Irrfan Khan, a global Indian will surely cut ice in this role.

Lord Mountbatten

1982: Peter Harlowe played the part with the sternness of a bureaucrat and an attitude on his face.

2016:The suave, Rajat Kapoor has our vote to play the last viceroy of the British Indian Empire.

Whether it was 1982 or 2016, the story of the man who brought India independence needs to be told and needs to be heard!

Tune-in to Zee Classic to watch Richard Attenborough directed ‘Gandhi’ on this Saturday, 13th August at 8 PM and Monday, 15th August at 9:30 AM

*********

Given above is the detailed press release of Zee Classic which is going to air "Gandhi" the  masterpiece by Sir Richard Attenborough on 13th and 15th August 2016 .

"Gandhi "  was is and has been an iconic character a symbol of strength , grit determination and will power a person who forced a foreign power to leave our country and give us our independence that too without any bloodshed .

As mentioned , and discussed in the release suppose the same movie  was made today then which actor would play which role and I think the options put forth by the ZEE people is very befitting . All the actors mentioned are capable of  doing full justice to the respective roles given to them .

But I would suggest some some more alternatives if the desired ones would be unavailable
Gandhi---Anupam Kher , Annu Kapoor

Kasturba ----Dipika Padukone , Supriya Pathak
Nehru------Saurabh Dubey , Dalip Tahil

The director of course will have to be Ashutosh Gowariker because he understands History like no one else .

Whatever the scene with Gandhi made in 2016 and whenever its release ---the Gandhi made in 1982 is th best we have , the best by all standards , excellent direction excellent portrayal of their respective roles by all the actors ---why else would the film be the winner of eight Academy Awards ( Oscars) .

This movie has the capacity to haunt you for days one forgets the real persons and how they looked
in fact to me Ben Kingsley is Gandhi ji  Nehru ji looks like Roshan Seth  and Sardar Patel like Sayeed Jaffrey while Jinnah is Alyque Padamsee --so natural was their acting and so strong the direction .

I am waiting eagerly for the 13th and 15th of August to watch this movie on both the days as I have seen it at least 6 times before never tiring always eager and attentive .

I must thank ZEE Classic for deciding to show this movie because it is a must for every generation and every person specially every Indian to see it as many times as possible and refresh ones memory regarding the great man ,  his greatness , his friends his followers his critics and the conditions prevalent during his times Because it is a very good depiction of the times and circumstances and the visual media  is a very important and powerful medium of expression and impression .

This movie is capable of igniting the feeling of patriotism in every Indian young or old .

Hiroshima remembered

Today 6th August we commemorate the unfortunate incident of the Bombings on the Japanese city of Hiroshima

An Acrostic poem using the letters H.I.R.O.S.H.I.M.A.

Henoious act
Inhuman act
'Rain of ruin' you called it that
O cruel man  !
Should you ?
Have threatened thus ?
Innocent were souls
Maimed were so many
After seventy  years aggrieved they remain still

Suicides the don'ts and the reasons for the don'ts

Just finished reading the book " the story of a suicide " by Sriram Ayer . It is a gripping book which deals with the problems faced  by youngsters today and the ways and means of overcoming them . How these characters are driven towards depression , frustration and loneliness . But then yes these very three words are the reasons which lead to feeling of dejection culminating in a desire to run away from all this and finally to end ones life in order to escape .I have said that the book is gripping I used the word gripping because the problems shown and showcased are so rampant in society' today"  ,  nearly every youth girl or boy is facing them the reasons may be many; more exposure , more opportunities , more interaction some time all the three but all in the negative sense . The roles played by social media , some immature minds the hazards they create . These are all some factors which were not so prominent a few decades ago . Society was controlled by certain rules and norms but these have all been thrown to the winds specially due to  foreign influence--and the Indian youth is not yet capable enough to handle such situations . Dirty minds are busy misusing latest technical facilities the various apps and inventions of technical advancements are not a boon but a bane .  All these points have been dealt with in the novel .

Thankfully the author has tried to show the ways by which we can overcome these depressing states . And how to be brave .

The episodes I found to be very common are the ones in which the boy is sexually exploited by a relative , and the one in which a boyfriend just does not care or respect his girlfriend .  Though the other cases like being a homosexual etc too may be important reasons for frustrations but these two  reasons are more rampant in society. And they are also being practiced from or should I say in vogue from time immemorial they are nothing new we have had cases of sexual abuse and humiliation from ages a lot of humiliating things happen inside families the joint family which is ranted upon to be a  means of providing social security has nearly always been a source of many an evil goings on and no one ready to believe the victim be it a girl or boy .

As far as I think committing a suicide is never the answer for any problem because when you commit suicide you are not only killing yourself   (which may well be  the perfect solution to ending your miseries)   but you are killing all those people together with you who Love you , who have hopes with you , who have loved you , and doted on you. No depressing thought can be so dangerous so as to make you ditch your loved ones.  Go and see the state which people are led to when they lose  a loved one how heart broken they become , how frustrated ; sometimes they are even led to becoming insane , at times they start blaming themselves for the death of their dear one ---and when the case is of suicide the people are  shattered.

So I end here with the request and message to anyone who is disturbed that have faith in yourself and always think about them who are your near and dear ones --how tragic your loss will be to them and how you will miss their affection in that other world you will be gone to. Suicides are no solutions if you think you can be selfish and punish them who  for some reason may have angered you by going away from them  -- then you are wrong because once you  ditch  them you will never be able to feel their love or even their nearness ever again however much you may repent .
The solutions or tips people in a depressed state of mind receive is , meet people , talk to some one , confide in friends etc   but I would personally advise people to keep themselves  busy pull yourself up , try to become active don't just keep brooding try and pull yourself up , push yourself towards activity I know its difficult but one has to try because if gone you will miss all the lovely things in life , the ice cream the movie , the fast food , the lovely songs , you will miss your chance of getting into a fresh relationship , of playing in the rain in short you will miss everything that the earth and the life here  has to offer .

And the Jhelum Flows ----review

"And the Jhelum flows" --a book by Ramendra Kumar published by  Authors Ink publications deals with the happenings in Kashmir . It is an unbiased portrayal of the life and conditions  prevalent  in Kashmir . The good the bad and the ugly ---the good that was , the Bad that came in and the Ugly that is now prevailing .

The Good used be the days when The Emperor Jahangir had said

( Gar Firdaus Bar rue jaminast
haminasto haminasto  haminast "

meaning if there is heaven on earh it is here it is here  it s hereAnd those days continued to decorate Kashmir till the 1980s there were no hindus or muslims there were only Kashmiris .

The book is written in the form of a travelogue with two journalists on a mission of making  a documentary about Kashmir

In their pursuit they meet many men and women who willingly tell them their own stories and the stories of others whom they knew  . These men and women had all suffered , lost their loved ones , faced atrocities and their hearts had become hardened with sadness some had contemplated  revenge some had lost hope . They had been tortured both by some Indians and by the Pakistani Jihadi's . They had been misguided into crossing over to Pakistan and becoming militants and they had repented their decision some had the courage to return to India , others were left behind to face discrimination and apartheid at the hands of the Pakistanis , these people who had crossed over to Pakistan had been tortured by some unscrupulous   Indians  and had in their fit of anger crossed the border only to find that the conditions were worse .

The book mentions incidents narrated first hand to them about how the militants in their attempt to malign the Indian army and police used to dress up as Indians and unleash a spate of torture on the innocent citizens who would start hating Indians . Though the Indians too were not all washed in milk . They too had their black sheep . This is why I say the book is an unbiased narration .

A touching incident narrated is of an Indian Soldier who saves a girl and after knowing him for some time the girl wishes to marry him --but he dies in combat .

I found the book so captivating that I read it in one go and if I continue to write I would go on filling pages after pages and yet not be able to stop .

So I now leave you to read the book yourself and give your verdict.

I would recommend this book solely because of two reasons first that it is unbiased ( as I have been saying all throughout ) and second that it deals with a very serious topic in the most genuine manner a it  shows real concern it empathizes with  an is  really concerned about the state of affairs , about the agony of the people of Kashmir and  it is really in search of a solution .

The book highlights the fact that the people of Kashmir want nothing other than peace and only peace " Sirf Aman"

The best thing which makes reading it interesting is the way all the material is presented in the form of interviews or self willing confessions and unburdening of their  hearts  by people .

The author Ramendra Kumar is an award inning writer with 28 books to his credit .and the publishers Authors Ink are a name that is now become a guarantee for providing good books . Priced at rupees One hundred and Ninety Five this book can be trusted with providing food for thought in a very captivating way .

Horlicks the boon for children

"How important, in your opinion, is it for children to catch up on lost growth?". is the question asked and the answer is VERY  important its a matter of utmost concern and immediate action should be taken to rectify the anomali and this I write with first hand knowledge .

My grandson when he was about four  years old suddenly went down with very high fever --which would keep on occurring after small intervals which means he would recover and then fall sick again. this made him very very weak and the same boy who was one of the brightest and smartest and cutest became weak and also would get irritated soon and keep on crying or whinning . This was a cause of great concern and his grand parents ( paternal ) and parents became very very worried . His dadi out of love and concern  tried all gimmicks like " nazar utarna " etc but none of it worked and he continued to become weak , and restless .Then finally a very worried dadi and dadaji decided to take him to some Godman  " BabaJI " in whom these people had a lot of faith . Now this was the last straw for my daughter. She had been tolerating all the various kinds of Nazar utarna etc sometime's done with burning chillies , some times with black threads , lemon etc she would cry in the privacy of her room not wanting to create a scene at home and moreover she knew they were doing it due to concern but going to a BABA  was  a little bit too much and she put her foot down She said this was not going to be done with her son .All hell broke loose in their house  taunts and abusive words were hurled at her But she was determined  and came to us with her son . She did not tell us at what had been happening but said she had brought him here so that she could look after him properly as the scene at her in-laws was not very comfortable with them busy in the preparations for her sis-in-law's wedding and guests too had started trickling in and the child was not getting proper care and attention. This was quite a fair reason for her to come over to our place.

Just after two days of their stay the child started showing signs of improvement , he would sleep for long hours without any discomfort This was , good and he also started showing other signs of improvement the best being that it was more than fifteen days and he hadn't had any bout of fever. This meant he was cured of whatever was ailing him , But he was still very weak , listless , and had a far away sad look in his eyes contrary to the mischievous smiling eyes he had had .  We were scared that his mental alertness was being affected his physical growth was being hampered and this is where Horlicks  CAME IN AS A BOON , THE BIGGEST HELPER EVER a doctor friend who had come to visit us said if the boy continued to show this kind of behaviour his mental development too would be hampered with. .He suggested that together with the love , care  attention that we were providing him with we should increase his protein intake ( eggs meat etc)  but good food was not enough for his recovery  in this state of affairs and the stage his weakness and frequent attacks of fever had brought him to. he needed a supplement and HORLICKS would provide him with every nutrient he needed . Though there were many other health drinks in the market Horlicks had that little bit extra so important for a child's mental and physical growth . This friend told us that “Horlicks Growth+ is a specialized nutrition product designed by international pediatric experts for children in age group of 3-9 years who are lagging behind in height and weight. It contains high quality whey protein with added nutrients that are known to enable children to catch up on lost growth. It has been clinically proven for visible growth in children in 6 months.”We rushed to the market immediately and brought a bottle of Horlicks Growth+ thankfully Horlicks has the knack to provide nutrition to children and even elders in the various tastes they love and here was a chocklate drink ready to tempt my grandson .

You wouldn't understand the relief we had when we saw him finish his drink in one go and you can never imagine the improvement he showed in a months time . The happy naughty and intelligent boy was back. He resumed school and the teachers who were so worried for him were happy to have him back And his grandparents who were not very pleased with my daughter's approach in handling the situation were all smiles when they came to visit us It was  decided that he and his mother would continue to stay with us till his aunts wedding was over This was possible because  both families stay in the same city .

Thank you Horlicks you have now become a regular breakfast drink for little Rahul He knows you have helped him recuperate .

A poem of mine

This poem has been selected by the e mag"The Scribblers " the topic was Womanhood .

 I am A Woman

I am a woman ,  Made of flesh and blood
And  you a man ,similarly clad ,
You lay the rules and ask me to follow ,
That, Which makes me feel vulnerable and hollow.
You call me the weaker  sex , You in the garb of provider
Rob me of my individuality , And call yourself , my ,protector.

When your arms crush me I smile,
When  you sneer and jeer and leer I blissfully comply,
Oh  !!  protector, you protect me from your own self.
My individuality is not acceptable to you,
For you my strength  lies in  my frailty
To be accepted ,I appear to be at your mercy ,To be loved I appear to die.

I make you feel complete I make you feel strong
I make you the ruler while I your vicinity throng
My body becomes one with yours And you let your heart to me belong
The rules are laid by you, The Game is played by me
To win I have to lose ,
Oh what a  paradox !!

I am a woman , Destined to be  a captive
Destined to rule through captivity .
For I am a woman , destined to rule
Destined to pull the strings holding your hands,
Guiding them from the shadows  never to come to the forefront .
For I am a woman Destined to rule With Chained Hands .

Gabbar is Back -- and its good

Saw the movie "Gabbar is Back" on TV last night ----as usual I could switch on the TV only when the movie had completed its first half or may be more ( those of you who have seen the movie I switched on when Akshay Kumar was trying to help the lady and her  two daughters in the hospital ) .

I like movies with a social or a patriotic theme  it may be a crisp and captivating one or it may even be a mediocre one so this one too caught my interest and I did not switch channels .

Liked the movie, loved the theme and story line  though nothing new but I like Akshay Kumar  ( of these days specially, as he has shown that he can act too. being  equally comfortable with  comedy and serious roles ) . Liked the fact that the character of the businessman Patil who is the main villain is not unnecessarily glamourised with violence and cruelty as accesories .

On the whole I liked the movie and the fact that it was not very heavy , if tears came they could only form a mist and give a tug at the heart , which is more important if a  thought has to be conveyed .Lot of TV artists have been given a chance --they who are prominent on the small screen are seen trying to prove themselves here or lets say showcase themselves. Must have been easy on the pocket for the producer . .

What I liked best was a dialogue between Gabbar and one of his followers Govind played by the same person who plays Mihir in "Yeh hai Mohabatein" ( the over stretching , over boring TV serial ) Here in his crusade against all corrupt police officials Gabbar  catches hold of the worst of the lot and as per  his modus operandi death is the only sentence for  all the crimminals but   this particular corrupt police officer happens to be the father of Govind one of the most sincere and faithful followers of the Gabbar gang So Gabbar asks Mihir what punishment should be meted out to his father  to which Govind replies that the previous culprits who were sentenced to death too had been fathers of someone so if they could be punished with death the same fate should be allotted to this man irrespective of the fact that he was  his  father and then he requests Gabbar to allow him to be away from the scene because he will not be able to see his own father die in front of him . To this Gabbar replied that he had achieved his target of having an army of honest people  like Mihir who were honest and not prejudiced when it came to following rules but at the same time human enough to feel the pain and agony of their loved ones .

This incident struck a chord because isn't that how it should be rules are rules to be followed honestly and bias and prejudice should not be allowed to influence ones decision  , this is the only way corruption can be weeded out from society .

The end too was nice with Gabbar throwing in dialogues  form "Sholay" to bring home his ideology .The dialogues of a Villain have been put to good use by a hero .

So on the whole a  nice movie can be seen once , and has a lovely song " Teri meri Kahani Ye baarishon ka paani "   missed the actual scene picturising  this song and I think I am glad I did because  romance is not all that easy to digest these days specially  after more than 40 years of marriage LOL  --- at times though these kind of songs do flicker in nostalgia .

While still at it I am happy I had recommended "Tamanna"and "Dahleez" the daily soaps --they are keeping our interests alive  "Bhabhi ji ghar pe hai "is no longer in my list whereas May I come in Madam" is interesting enough to make me finish my chores by 9.30 pm . "Kuchh Rang Pyar ke aise bhi "Ek duje ke vaste" and "Parvarish" too seem to be good have just been  able to catch a few glimpses .

Glad I have come back  to the TV watching at least it is giving me some material   to blog about ,

Some Better Daily soaps to watch ---part 2

I decided to write this post today because I am afraid both the serials  may loose their crispness and twists and become run of the mill sagas , as they had done a few weeks back   making me  feel like a fool for having recommended  them to you all .

I am talking about Tamanna and Dahleez on Star plus --they had lost their newness and crispness for a few week but have again picked up the threads.

Tamanna is succeeding in teaching a lesson on communal harmony why and how badly is it needed and how vested interests have been trying to turn everything to their advantage using the innocent and vulnerable .  Here I am  forced to ask that age old question cliche too which seems so much idealistic and put on BUT is so important -----Do we inquire about the  caste or creed or religion of the blood donor when we need a blood transfusion ? Do we refuse to seek the advice of a doctor of another religion when we need help ? Are we aware of the religion of the farmer who must have grown our food in his farm ? and so many more questions of the same genre. A scene worth mentioning is when a rickshaw driver of a particular community  braves all the hazards to reach a pregnant woman to a  midwife who is not ready to deliver the child of  the patient only because she belongs to a different community At the same time they show how the sensible mature and right thinking  people of both the communities are trying to bring in peace

Dahleez too has taken an interesting turn what with the main characters finding themselves entangled in a situation which can become heavily explosive and disrupt the harmony of the family ties and relations -a slight spark already seems to have ignited because the leading lady is finding it difficult  to believe that her uncle and cousin were terrorists though all the fingers  in fact the whole hand is pointing towards them . Absence of any evidence to prove their innocence and the selfishness of the only person Harshvardhan ( who had lost his fiance to Asad now deceased and being mistaken as a trrrorist ) who knows that Asad is not a terrorist but doesn't divulge the truth making use of the opportunity to win back his fiance    On the other hand they are also showing the generosity and understanding nature of the Sinha family who though they had themselves lost their son are compassionate towards their new daughter in law whose cousin was supposedly a terrorist and had shot the Sinha's youngest son dead . Similarly their concern towards the widowed daughter in law is also an example of maturity and compassion . Another scene worth mentioning is  where the media is shown asking the parents how they are feeling on losing their son and this too when they are in the hospital with the body .of their dead son .

Both the serials are trying to tackle some social issues ---their direction may not be crisp and mature  but at least their is an attempt to show some thing new tackling  an important  social problem . Lets hope they can continue to hold our interest and that too in a mature way and not become childish daily soaps .

At the end I would like to recommend "Bhabhi ji Ghar pe hai "once again which is not totally lost after the replacement of the actor playing the role of Angoori Bhabhi it is still worth watching in spite of the replacement though after all  a change can always be noticed .

Another serial "May I come in Madam"is also rib tickling though with a slightly adult theme ---but not vulgar at all.

These serials have succeeded in weening me away from the computer for two hours daily ---9 pm to 11pm .

Fun. Freedom. Confidence. The ultimate Urban Cross - Datsun redi-GO - the capability of a crossover with the convenience of a hatchback.#rediGO.

Datsun's  redi-GO which is Nissan's low price sister brand will be launched in the Indian market on  June 7, 2016. The  pricing will be in the range of Rs 2.39lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh, The Datsun has  an 800 cc motor and  gives an average  of 25.17 km/l.it has a lot to offer to the first-time car buyer. It is reasonably spacious, is easy to drive and offers really good fuel economy. Its design is what they call a quirky tall -boy design and is available in trendy or lets say funky colours like deep red and bright green. It is based on Renault-Nissan's common module family  platform  the "CMF-A platform" and  98 per cent of the redi-GO’s parts have been locally sourced.

After reading a lot of available material about the car I have discovered that while the redi-GO may not be a car which can be used by the Jazzy group for fast drives  in order to get a kick out of driving what I mean is that  Hoohaa ...yeeee  kind of excitement with guys and girls recklessly perched on the hood or hanging out of the windows waiving hands and scarves mouths open wide in thrill and excitement  giving the passers by and the traffic police jitters , making there own and others life miserable and  dangerous  BUT its a car which is easy on  every ones's nerves   and also easyto drive.   The gear shifts and the clutch are light making it easier for the veteran as well as the novice drivers to handle .Even the first time driver who is making a shift from a two wheeler to four wheeler finds it easy to adjust .

Other features include  the hatchback with a good 185 mm ground clearance which makes it comfortable to drive on  broken and bumpy roads ( trademark of our Indian roads be it city or village urban or rural ) Its dimensions of 3429 mm length 1560 mm width 1541 mm in height and 2430 wheel base make it ideal for city drives as they will provide better maneuverability in choked urban conditions and easy parking too .Other highlights include swept-back headlamps and a narrow front with grille and a muscular bonnet. The top-end variant also gets optional daytime running lights on the front bumper, . The Tail lights are positioned at a reasonable height making  it easy for the visibility by other vehicles .Other customization options like a spoiler, door visors, roof rails, wheel trims, are also available. The front seats come with support on the sides, . The steering wheel has a nice and sporty shape and the contours offer natural grip. The glass area is generous and you get great overall visibility too.
The dashboard has a single DIN entertainment system  and  a USB port

I read somewhere that there were certain disadvantages like----- cost cutting with  the compromise in  basic plastic quality, a lot of exposed sheet metal and no  central locking either------But then this urban car of mine should be able to  take the scratches, bruises and abuse of our choked urban roads and for this we must say thanks to the  exposed sheet metal ( which is actually a boon not a bane ) Similarly I also feel the absence of centralized locking a welcome feature because I have seen accidents and tragedies occur due to them ,we Indian parents are cautious enough to hold the child from opening doors in fact we don't let our kids  sit near the doors;  but then we are forgetful enough and careless too  to leave the  child locked inside  and walk away. Similarly it is being said  that  the  steering needs more weight and feel at higher speeds and while the engine is at home at low to medium speeds, highway overtakes will need planning  BUT then our redi-GO is meant for urban driving not for Highway overtaking isn't it ?

SO   if you're looking for a second car the redi-GO makes for a good  city-runabout. It is THE car to take the scratches, bruises and abuse of our choked urban roads, while your primary vehicle can be saved for special occasions

I would love to own this car because from what I have been gathering it has done away with the disadvantages of  and saved  the plus points needed by family cars on Indian urban roads for example , spaciousness and most importantly Ground Clearance and one should never forget the average it gives.

The three important features which are luring me towards this Datsun redi-GO  are

1. Its price together with the average of 25.17 km/l what with fuel prices jumping up and down regularly
2. Spaciousness
and
3.  most importantly its ground clearance ( very important for Indian roads urban or rural )

I would love to take this car on a test drive to certain areas of my own city Nagpur places like Itwari, Sadar , Central avenue , Railway station and Dharampeth and Sitabuldi because these are the places which have all the specimens of Indian Urban roads  they are crowded , narrow , bumpy  and also smooth and excellent thus providing all the hurdles and also the good points ;the examples of  perfect Indian Urban Roads  and would enjoy the------Fun. Freedom. Confidence. The ultimate Urban Cross - Datsun redi-GO - the capability of a crossover with the convenience of a hatchback

Thus becoming the owner of India's first ever Urban Cross the Datsun redi-GO

Kuchh rang pyar ke aise bhi

mothers day special ----The mother figure in my life

This Mother’s Day, let’s acknowledge people who’ve played the ‘mother figure’ in our lives.
Featuring Actor Arjun Mathur and others, the video has been conceptualized and produced by The Glitch.

Going beyond the literal definition of a mother and focusing on the meaning and the emotion attached to that word. This video celebrates those figures who have showed the unconditional love and care that any mother would give to a child, the support that you get when everything seems muddled. While most of us will think of their own mother who symbolizes all of the above things, you find people showing the same care apart from your “biological” mother.

The video ‘#LikeAMotherby The Glitch featuring Actor Arjun Mathur and others, explores the broader aspect of being a mother by celebrating motherhood on this mother’s day.

‘#LikeAMother’ celebrates the feeling of motherhood and pays a tribute to all those in our lives who have been no less than a mother in our lives. From their grandparents, fathers, care-takers, aunts, step-mothers or even a friend, this video shares the stories of different people from all walks of life, acknowledging that one person who has played the role of a mother in their lives, even when they didn’t had to.

The above is the press release issued by " The Glitch" to celebrate mothers day  and it is such a nice concept because our biological mothers do play such an important  role in our lives that the word mother has become synonym with love , affection , concern and  support ---but have we noticed that there are people who give us equal love support, and affection as our biological mothers even though it is not required of them and here is my story of such a personality in my life .

It was my maternal grandfather who loved me and cared for me more than any mother could or would . My father was in a transferable job which took him to places far and wide in the remotest of jungles and smallest of villages so my parents decided to put me in the care of my maternal grandparents . Who agreed to take up the responsibility with a smile .

Whereas my grandmother shouldered the responsibility of  my physical needs food clothes etc it was my grandfather who took upon himself to provide me with emotional  support and look after my studies and grooming in all aspects of life . He would take me for walks
which were actually my lessons in nature rambles , back home he would make me do rope skipping which took care of my physical  health . Evenings saw me sitting down with him at the study table doing my home work and getting ready for the class the next day and then after dinner I would sit with him in the verandah where he would tell me stories from moral science books or from the Ramayana and then I would scamper to bed with him behind me ready to tuck the ends of my mosquito net as soon as I settled into the bed . He was well liked by the teachers and nuns in the convent school  I attended because he would follow my progress regularly and visit the teachers for feedback .

My school bag was in his supervision he would sharpen my pencils ,keep my books  and later on  saw to it that I  did all that with accuracy myself , He taught me everything how to lead a disciplined and responsible life

I know that my biological parents would not have been able to give me the love and affection and such values as my grandfather ( nana ji )  not that they would have been negligent but they had other duties to perform  related to  their job and other family responsibilities . What ever be the reason I consider my self lucky to have been brought up by my grandparents who took such pains for my good . And thank you Nanaji for showering upon me love and care just like any mother would do .
